Pregnancy and birth is the largest emotional and physical change that a woman’s body experiences. It is a time of profound transition where women become more aware of how their body works, and as the baby grows in the womb, the extra weight shifts the centre of gravity and postural changes occur which may lead to aches and pains across the body including lower back and pelvis.
Back to Dubai from London to take off her fifth highly respected 85-hour (7-day) Pre and Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training, Sally Parkes a certified Experienced and Senior Yoga teacher trainer, Doula and mother who has penned many articles for major publications and author of The Student's Guide to Yoga Anatomy, shares her years of expertise on how yoga allows a mom to enjoy an empowered pregnancy and birth. You will go through an extensive journey covering all stages of pregnancy which is grounded in sound physiology and anatomy as well as the more subtle aspects of yoga. As a trainee on this uplifting training, you will be fully equipped with the knowledge and expertise to teach safe and uplifting vinyasa yoga classes and privates. This is achieved via a combination of appropriate asana, pranayama, mudra and visualisations, methods developed from Sallys’ extensive background in Pilates and gentle exercise rehabilitation as well as a joyful mom and babies yoga class involving gentle stretching and strengthening poses.
"One of the most common questions I am asked by expectant mothers is “What positions can I do during labour to make the birth easier?” I always tell them that while there are positions that will help the mother feel less discomfort during the birth, such as leaning forwards on a ball to ease pressure placed upon the lumbar region, and practicing squat positions so the weight of the baby combined with gravity will help the mother's cervix dilate, it is also useful for the mother to focus on the baby’s position as she reaches her third trimester" - Sally Parkes, www.sallyparkes.com
